About Us

Biohavn ApS is a Denmark-based company established in 2025, focused on developing sustainable building solutions and contributing to healthier indoor environments. The company was founded following the approval of its underlying concept by the Startup Denmark expert panel under the Danish Business Authority, after which Biohavn ApS was established as the legal framework for advancing the approved idea.

Biohavn’s work addresses the growing need for building systems and materials that reduce environmental impact while remaining compatible with real-world construction practices and regulatory frameworks in Denmark and the European Union. The company operates at the intersection of building materials, bio-integrated systems, and environmental performance at architectural and building scale.

In recent years, tightening climate regulations, increased focus on embodied carbon, and the gradual introduction of carbon-related requirements and taxation in the construction sector have made the need for new technical and material-based approaches increasingly clear. Biohavn’s activities are positioned within this evolving regulatory and economic context, where innovation is becoming a practical necessity rather than an optional ambition.

Following its establishment, Biohavn ApS is currently engaged in research, conceptual development, and technical evaluation, while preparing the conditions for phased implementation. This includes regulatory alignment, capital raising, identification of implementation partners, and collaboration with research institutions and universities to accelerate the transition from development to practical application.

One of Biohavn’s core objectives is to align its activities with European climate ambitions and, in particular, Denmark’s pathway toward carbon neutrality. In this context, the company aims to contribute to climate targets for 2030 and 2050 through solutions that address both environmental performance and long-term viability in the built environment.
